Lidgate Village SignWELCOME TO LIDGATE

Lidgate is a small, lively village with a population of around 250, located about 7 miles from Newmarket on the B1063.

Lidgate is rich in history. Once we were a self supporting farming community with two shops, a garage, a policeman, a doctor, a post office, a school, two pubs, a library, a resident Rector and a direct bus link to Bury St Edmunds. Before then, we even had a 'motte and bailey' castle and nurtured a medieval poet. Now, the village's main attractions are St Mary's Church, The Star Inn and the Village Hall.

Take some time to explore this website, or better still, visit the village itself.
